Talk To Your Librarian

For 2 weeks prior to Teen Read Week last fall, I promoted our game show and pizza taste off program with a poster in the YA room that said "Take Time To Talk To Your Librarian" (inspired by Take Time to Read). Under the title there was a hint that it just might pay to take the time to talk to me! When a teen greeted me, I gave them a flyer for the program and a candy treat (it was the Halloween season too) and a TRW bookmark. The teens enjoyed this and I was able to do some one on one promotion of the program and of my services. Of course, the word spread that I was giving out candy to anyone who would come up and talk to me! This idea could work for promoting any of your programs and gets you a lot of smiles from the teens in your library.
